Stronghold Information
What is a Spiritual Stronghold ?
“Strongholds” are perceptions that are not based on the truth of God’s Word. They are blocks and walls which prevent individuals from seeing the world accurately and can cause patterns of behavior that influence our lives negatively. Strongholds can be negative patterns, influences or grips, a persistent oppression, obsession, hindrance, torment or harassment. Strongholds are frustrating and discouraging. They often prevent forward movement and forgiveness and inhibit functional, healthy relationships.
Why Should I Break Strongholds ?
Change your frame of perception, and your thoughts change.
Change your thoughts, and your feelings change.
II Corinthians 10:4 tells us, "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds."
When individuals begin to break down strongholds, every area of their life is affected. A dynamic benefit of stronghold breaking is the positive effect that it has on our relationships, our emotions and our feelings. Conversations with ourselves, others and God become easier and more clear after stronghold breaking. Did you know that it's our perspective and perception that breeds our thoughts and it's from our thoughts that our feelings flow?
As strongholds are broken, power is removed from negative emotions and strong feelings. We are able to use more self-control and gain access to more linear, rational thought. Blocks in our heart are removed, allowing a new flow of God's love into us and through us and this dynamic begins to change our relationships.
Stronghold breaking is the key that opens up blessing. Why is this? Because it's a spiritual principle. James 5:16 states, "Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." As strongholds crumble, something in the spirit supernaturally changes. A shift to the perspective comes through the process.

Where to Start
Start by filling out the Breaking Negative Patterns Identification Form Here.
Filling out the form is easy. Simply decide how frequently you encounter each symptom. Score yourself based on a scale where 5 is extremely frequent and 0 is never. Numbers in between represent the frequency.
For example, if an individual was filling out their form and identified Discouragement a few times per week, they may want to give themselves a 4 since it's pretty frequent. If an individual was filling out the form and came to Fear and realized that they had a high frequency of experiencing anxiety, they might fill in a 5. For a habit that occurs less frequently, a score of 1 or 2 may make more sense.
Be as honest as you can. The purpose of this form is to identify your blind spots. Invest in yourself as you take the time to fill out the form.
You may want to consider allowing a trusted friend or family member to complete it with their perspective after you've finished. They may put down numbers for you that are different, since many times we don't see ourselves the way that others see us. Be objective and open to their scores.
Secure the symptoms to the strongholds that need to be broken based on your scores. Soon you will be able to download the symptoms of each stronghold from this website. They will also be found in the four part Breaking Negative Patterns series coming soon.
